We’re building a bench of reliable handymen and licensed trade sub-contractors to handle a growing pipeline of residential and light commercial work across the Wasatch Front. Handyman (Generalist)
Drywall, paint, doors, locks, hardware, faucets, toilets, light electrical, basic carpentry, exterior. The bread-and-butter work.
Licensed Trade Subs
Licensed Utah electricians, plumbers, HVAC, and roofing contractors. We refer scope to you on jobs that need your license.
Specialty Trades
Cabinet refacers, fence builders, deck builders, painters, flooring installers, niche specialists welcome.
What You Bring
- ✓ Skill: You’ve done this work professionally. We don’t train from scratch, we partner with people who already know their craft.
- ✓ Tools + truck: You bring your own. We’re contract-based, not W-2 employment.
- ✓ Insurance: General liability minimum. Trade subs need active license + COI we can verify.
- ✓ Professionalism: Show up on time. Communicate clearly. Treat customer homes with respect. Clean job sites at the end of the day.
- ✓ Smartphone: For scheduling, photo updates, and customer communication via Housecall Pro.

How It Works
- ✓ Apply: Send a short email or call. Tell us your trade, years of experience, current insurance status, and what part of the Wasatch Front you cover.
- ✓ Phone screen: ~20-minute call to walk through your experience and how we operate.
- ✓ Reference + license check: We verify license (if applicable) at the Utah DOPL site, request COI, and call 2-3 references.
- ✓ Trial job: We start with a single small job to make sure we’re a good fit on both sides.
- ✓ Ongoing: Jobs come through our scheduling system. You accept what fits your calendar. Pay on standard contractor terms.
Compensation
Per-job sub-contractor rates based on scope. Specific rates discussed during phone screen, depends on your trade, experience, and the work type. We’re competitive with the better contractors in the Wasatch Front market.

Common Questions
No, we operate on a 1099 sub-contractor model. You’re an independent contractor running your own business. We provide the customer relationships and brand; you provide the trade work.
We’re hiring across the full Wasatch Front. Tell us what cities you cover and we’ll match you with jobs in your service area. We currently have higher demand in Salt Lake County, Davis County, and the Provo/Orem area.
General liability minimum. If you’re a licensed trade sub (electrician, plumber, HVAC, roofing), you also need current active license verifiable at DOPL plus the appropriate trade-specific insurance.
Depends on your trade, availability, and quality of work. Our reliable subs see consistent weekly bookings. Pre-listing work tends to come in batches tied to real estate listing timelines.
Yes, you’re a 1099 contractor running your own business. Many of our subs have their own direct customers and use HMJ jobs to fill schedule gaps. The only restriction is during active HMJ jobs, the customer relationship belongs to HMJ.
Per-job invoicing through Housecall Pro. Net 7-14 days from job completion and customer payment.
