Handyman Jacks is a licensed Utah handyman and home-repair company built around one principle: do the job right the first time, stand by the work, and make the customer’s life easier. We serve homeowners across the Wasatch Front with a 1-year labor warranty on every job, full insurance coverage, and pricing that reflects the actual cost of doing the work properly.

Why We Exist
Most homeowners have a list of small repairs they’ve been putting off. The reasons are familiar: hard to find someone reliable, hard to know what a fair price is, hard to trust that the person showing up will respect your house and finish what they start.
We started Handyman Jacks to fix that experience. Quality workmanship, fair pricing, honest communication, and a real warranty when the job’s done. No surprises. No shortcuts. No “this’ll do” finishes.
What Makes Us Different
Three things show up on every job:
1. We stand by the work. Every job carries a 1-year labor warranty. If something we installed or repaired fails inside that window because of our work, we come back and fix it. No hedging, no upcharge.
2. We bid honestly. Listed prices on this website are starting points, not hard quotes. We walk the job before committing to a number so you know what you’re paying for. No bait-and-switch. No “while we’re here” upsells you didn’t ask for.
3. We treat your house like ours. Drop cloths, clean cuts, debris hauled away. The job site at the end of the day shouldn’t look worse than how we found it.
Pre-Listing Repair Specialty
One of our strongest niches is pre-listing repair work for home sellers. We started this program because we saw too many sellers leaving money on the table — either skipping cheap repairs that would have boosted offer prices, or getting hit with inspection concessions for items that could have been fixed for a fraction of the buyer’s ask.
Through GoMarketReady, we help sellers prioritize what matters, knock it out fast, and walk into listing day with a finished home — not a punch list.
The Team
Handyman Jacks is owned and operated by Kris Bowen, a longtime Utah real estate broker who started HMJ to give his clients (and everyone else) a better option for home repairs. Operations are run by Barbie, who handles scheduling, customer intake, and keeping the trucks in the right place at the right time.
Our handymen bring decades of combined trade experience to every job. We hire for skill, professionalism, and reliability — the kind of person you’d want walking into your own house. When the job calls for a licensed specialty trade (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing), we bring in a properly licensed Utah contractor in that trade. The customer relationship stays with us.
How We Bid
Every job starts with a walkthrough — either on-site or via photos and a quick video call for smaller scopes. We look at the work, ask about your timeline and priorities, and give you a written estimate before any work begins.
Our pricing reflects what it actually costs to do the work right: skilled labor, quality materials, drive time, warranty coverage, and the insurance that protects you if something goes wrong. When you call us, you’re calling for the job done right the first time — backed by warranty, insurance, and a real person on the other end of the phone.

What We Don’t Do
Knowing where we stop is part of doing right by you. Things we’ll refer out to a more appropriate contractor:
New construction and full additions. We’re a repair and improvement company, not a custom homebuilder. For new builds or major additions, we’ll point you to a residential GC who specializes.
Large-scale commercial buildouts. We handle light commercial maintenance and property management work. Full commercial tenant improvements go through a commercial general contractor.
Specialty work outside Utah trade-licensure scope. Major electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and roofing work is performed by a licensed Utah contractor in that specific trade.
Licensing & Insurance
License: Licensed Utah General Contractor, license #14195166-5501. Verifiable at the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing.
Insurance: Full general liability insurance coverage. Certificate of insurance available on request — many of our pre-listing clients (and the agents who refer them) ask for one, and we provide it without friction.
Where We Work
We serve 75 cities across the Wasatch Front, from Brigham City in the north to Santaquin in the south, plus mountain communities in Summit, Wasatch, and Tooele counties. Check our service area page to confirm we cover your city.
Common Questions
How fast can you get to me?
Most quotes scheduled within 48 hours. If you’re on a listing-day timeline or have a closing deadline, tell us at intake and we’ll work to move you up.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes — we have a minimum service call to cover the cost of getting a skilled tradesperson and a truck to your house. For most projects this is rolled into the bid; for very small standalone jobs it sets the floor.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. Every job carries a 1-year labor warranty. If our work fails inside that window because of how we did it, we come back and make it right at no charge.
Can I supply my own parts and fixtures?
Absolutely. Bring the part you want installed and we’ll quote labor on it. We also keep relationships with reputable suppliers and can shop for fixtures at our cost if you’d rather not.
Do you work with real estate agents?
Yes — pre-listing prep is one of our specialties. Agents who refer their seller clients to GoMarketReady get a faster intake path and a single point of communication on every project.
